The organization was was founded by Daniel Yankelovich, an author and social scientist and a former Secretary of State, Cyrus Vance in 1975. Research studies may be selected by title or topic. Issue guides are available by topic; also has "Special Editions" on topics such as terrorism. The site provides access to other resources as well, such as background information on polling.

Provides access to various statistics compiled by the U.S. Social Security Administration. Data can be found by title, subject, and release date. Microdata files are provided for public use. Various publications such as The Annual Statistical Supplement are also provided.

The U.S. Census Bureau terminated the collection of data for the Statistical Compendia program effective October 1, 2011, but older issues are archived.
