1954 U.S. Women's Open: Babe's Courageous Win

When she arrived at Salem Country Club in Peabody, Mass., Babe Didrikson Zaharias was already a legend, earning Olympic gold medals in track and field before becoming the world's best women's golfer. Her win in the 1954 U.S. Women's Open, though, may have topped all of her previous athletic achievements, as just a month removed from colon cancer surgery, she recorded a dominant 12-stroke victory for her third win in the championship.
