Vocabulary - Library Basics

General Collection - the books in the library located on the first floor, off the main hallway, that can be checked out.

LC Call Numbers - an organizational system created by the Library of Congress to organize books where letters represent subjects.

Course Guides or LibGuides - mini websites created by CNU librarians to help you with your research.  Guides are either subject or course specific.

Course Reserves - books or other learning materials held at the main circulation desk at the request of your professors.  Check out times are limited enabling all students in a course to access them.

ILL - stands for InterLibrary Loan - if you can't find it at CNU, we can borrow it for you from another library.
