Library Card

  •  The Virginia Tidewater Consortium (VTC) agreements allow students, faculty, and staff at area colleges to be issued Community Patron library cards.   In order to obtain a library card, VTC cardholders must present  (1) a valid Virginia driver’s license or ID card (or a military ID along with verification of address, (2) a valid VTC borrower card (issued by their campus library), and (3) a valid campus ID from their institution.  More information about the VTC program and the member institutions can be found at http://guides.lib.odu.edu/vtclibraries
  • The VIVA Cooperative Borrowing Program allows students, faculty, and staff from other participating academic libraries to borrow materials on-site. This link contains a list of VIVA Member institutions, their status in this program, and what is required to verify current student, faculty, or staff status once you get there.  Once verified as a member of a participating institution, patrons are are issued Community Patron library cards.   

Library borrowing privileges to VTC card holders and VIVA Cooperative Borrowing patrons are limited and do not include remote access to the Library’s electronic resources or Interlibrary Loan privileges. These patrons must be in the library in order to access Library databases.

• Circulating Books refers to our normally circulating books in the General Collection, New Books, Browsing, Oversize, Learning Resources, Juvenile, Vogan, Bruce Cole, Dorothy Rouse-Bottom, Mackenzie and Storage locations.

User Agreement

Upon registering as a community patron, patrons read and agree to the statement below:
 
It is your responsibility to notify the Library of any address changes.  All library materials must be returned or
renewed by their due date.  All materials are subject to recall and must be returned upon notification.  PATRONS
ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MATERIALS CHECKED OUT ON THEIR CARDS AND ALL FINES INCURRED. 
Failure to return books or pay fines will result in additional administrative costs, possible interest charged which is allowable under Code of Virginia sections 58.1-526 and our sending debt information to a collection agency and/or your debt being sent to the Virginia Setoff Debt Collection as per Code of Virginia sections 58.1-521 and 58.1-522.
 
Community Patron library cards must be presented in order to check out materials.  Library cards are not
transferable and may only be used by the person to whom they are issued.

Printing

Community patrons must obtain a Printing Card from the Main Circulation Desk.  In order to print, a minimum of $1.00 needs to be added to the card via credit card at the Captains Cash Kiosk in the Computer Help Desk Room of the Library in order to use the Library printing system.  Funds are added as Captains Cash. Printing and copying costs are $.10 per black & white page and $.25 per color page.   Scanning to email is available for $.10 per page.   Patrons must be signed in to one of the four guest computers and enter the card number when printing.
