RSTD 211 - Thompson - Spring 2025: Library Resources

Terms and Searching within Databases

The translations of East Asian languages to English complicate searching and finding all information Trible Library contains relating to people, concepts, and terms. Try searching Google and Wikipedia to obtain different spellings of your word or phrase and look for the religious tradition to which it belongs. For example, I might find resources that refer to "Tao" or "Dao" in Primo and in the suggested databases. When you look for your term, make sure to either search for each spelling independently or connect the alternate spellings in the search fields with the operator "OR". To focus your results, search for your term and include the religion associated with it. If the term is used in more than one tradition, try adding "religion" or "philosophy" to your topic search.
