21 call number designations
- Six (G, H, J, K, R, and T) were within one standard deviation of the mean.
- Eight (B, C, D, E, F, N, P, and U) had either a PEU or RBH more than one standard deviation above the mean.
- Five (L, M, S, V, and Z) had either a PEU or RBH more than one standard deviation below the mean.
- One (A) had both PEU and RBH more than one standard deviation above the mean.
- One (Q) had both PEU and RBH more than one standard deviation below the mean.
- Patterns:
- If both PEU and RBH exceed 1 SD above the mean, the library collection and interlibrary loan are both being used heavily. Consider adding volumes to this collection area.
- If both PEU and RBH exceed 1 SD below the mean, neither the library collection nor interlibrary loan are being used frequently. Consider decreasing collection development in this area.
- If PEU exceeds 1 SD above the mean, and RBH exceeds 1 SD below the mean, the library collection is being heavily used and there does not seem to be a need for interlibrary loan. This is the ideal situation.
- If PEU exceeds 1 SD below the mean, and RBH exceeds 1 SD above the mean, the library collection is not being used, but need for interlibrary loan is high. The collection should be carefully examined for adequacy and relevance.
- Other combinations of data are relevant, but the ones above perhaps require the most attention. (Aguillar, 22)
